CADAIR IDRIS

Spectacular views of the North faceof Cadair Idris> can be viewed from our Conservatory and lies only a five minute drive to the S.E.
The Large panoramic birdwatching window overlooks the River Wnion and beyond has spectacularly stunning unbroken views over the Mawddach Estuary to the Mountains beyond above Bontddu where the Royal Rings orignate from the numerous Gold Mines that festoon the Hills. The area holds vast potential and lots to offer the casual Rambler Birdwatcher as well as the serious Climber/Mountaineer and offers Challenges of differing levels of abilities and experience.
The Mawddach Trail> which starts at the quaint village of Dolgellau and follows the course of the pristine River Wnion down the Mawddach Estuary on the old rail-bed past the George III Pub and the picturesque yatch moorings adjacent to the RSPB> Birdwatching tower (Old Signal Box) continuing through a Birch forest and hugging the coastline down to and over the Railway bridge (Toll 60p/pp) Terminating at the seaside town of Barmouth> and its magnificent and extensive 'BLUE FLAG' beaches. This flat 9 mile walk is accessed from the front of the cottage without having to employ the use of transport.
MAWDDACH ESTUARY

Coed-y-Brenin> U.Ks Premiere 9000acre Walking and Mountainbiking area with numerous designated picknicking sites in a stunning Douglas Fir Tree forest that provides refuge for the Tallest Trees in Wales. Numerous large Rivers have cut thier way through the area and have left thier legacy of deep spectacular gorges and magnificent waterfalls It is steeped in history with regard to the Gold Prospectors and thier activities a great deal of evidence remains in and around the Rivers
 Torrent Walk> (2.5miles) Parking in lay by B4416. Situated 2 miles East of the Cottage. This Famous Circular walk is Ideal for all the family and follows the River Clywedog as it tumbles down the gorge and eventually meets with the River Wnion.
Precipice Walk> (3miles) This an ideal walk for the whole family situated only 2 miles from the cottage. There is ample parking (and toilets) at this National Park car park. The Precipice Walk is one of the famous attractions of Dolgellau. It passes through an interesting variety of habitats which include deciduous woodland, a conifer plantation, meadows, lakeside and sheep-walk. The main attraction of the walk is the incomparable views down the Mawddach Estuary> and of the principal mountain ranges of Snowdonia.
